Convert a Capital One statement PDF to Excel or CSV
Monthly Capital One statements usually arrive as PDFs. That is fine for reading, but useless when you need the transactions in a spreadsheet, a budget, or your bookkeeping software. StatementLocal turns a text-based Capital One credit card or bank statement PDF into a CSV or Excel file directly in your browser, without uploading the statement anywhere.
To be clear about what to expect: StatementLocal is a general statement parser, not a Capital One-specific integration, and it is not affiliated with Capital One. It reads the text positions in the PDF, finds the transaction table (date, description, amounts and, if printed, the running balance) and rebuilds it row by row. It works with most text-based PDF statements, and every conversion ends with a balance check so you can see whether the result reconciles before you rely on it.
Try it on your own statement. Free: 1 file per day, CSV & Excel export, nothing uploaded.
Open the free converterHow to do it
- Download the PDF statement from your online banking (Statements or Documents section). It must be a text-based PDF, not a scan.
- Open the converter and drop the PDF onto it, or click to choose the file. It is read locally in your browser.
- Review the editable preview. Rows that don't reconcile with the running balance are highlighted; click any cell to fix it.
- Export CSV or Excel (.xlsx) and save it to your device.
What columns you get
Every export, CSV or Excel, has the same columns, so your templates and import mappings keep working from month to month:
| Column | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Date | Transaction date (YYYY-MM-DD in CSV, a real date cell in Excel). The year is inferred from the statement period, including December–January rollovers. |
| Description | The transaction text, with multi-line descriptions joined into one cell. |
| Amount | One signed number: money in positive, money out negative. |
| Debit / Credit | The same amount split into money-out and money-in columns. |
| Balance | The running balance, when the statement prints one. |
| Source File | Which PDF the row came from, useful when merging several statements. |
| Check | OK when the row reconciles with the running balance, or a MISMATCH note to review. |
Tips for a clean result
- Download the official PDF statement rather than printing a web page to PDF. Printed activity pages often have a different layout and no running balance, which makes the balance check less useful.
- Convert several months at once with Pro or the 30-Day Pass: StatementLocal merges them into one file and adds a Source File column, so you always know which Capital One statement a row came from.
- If a row is flagged as a mismatch, compare it with the PDF and click the cell to fix it before exporting. A mismatch usually means one transaction was split or misread.
- Statements in US formats (MM/DD dates, amounts like 1,234.56) are what the parser handles today. DD/MM dates and European number formats such as 1.234,56 are not supported yet.
Private by design
The PDF is opened by JavaScript inside your browser tab and never uploaded. No AI is involved: parsing is deterministic, so the same PDF always gives the same result. Scanned (image-only) PDFs aren't supported yet. Read more in the privacy guide or the Privacy Policy.
Pricing: the free plan converts 1 file per day. Pro ($9/month or $59/year) and the one-time 30-Day Pass ($19) unlock unlimited files and batch merging. See plans.

Convert a statement nowFAQ
Is StatementLocal made by or affiliated with Capital One?
No. StatementLocal is an independent tool. It does not connect to your Capital One account or ask for your login; it only reads a PDF statement you have already downloaded, and it does so inside your browser.
Will my Capital One statement convert correctly?
Most text-based PDF statements convert cleanly, but layouts vary and change over time, so we don't promise any specific bank. Use the free daily conversion on your own statement first: if the balance check says every row reconciles, the extraction matches what the statement prints.
Can I convert a scanned or photographed Capital One statement?
Not yet. The converter needs a PDF with selectable text, like the ones downloaded from online banking. If you can't highlight text in your PDF viewer, it is an image and StatementLocal will tell you it can't read it.
Is my Capital One statement uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is opened and parsed by JavaScript in your browser tab. You can load the page, switch off Wi-Fi, and the conversion still works.
